The AMK-77 2 X 72 Belt Grinder includes a Variable Speed (VFD) with a 1.5hp motor, a 12" Serrated Wheel, and all aluminum parts (except wheels) are blue powder coated. Ideal for knife making and general fabrication. This grinder competes with the many machines on the market that cost much, much more.

So, what makes our grinder different? Well, I'm glad you asked! Our grinder comes with a flat platen and a Serrated Wheel. These are features you will pay extra for with other grinders. Yep that's right, ours comes with both, and you can easily switch between the two by rotating the swing attachment arm. You don't have to remove any parts and store them. They're all built right into the grinder! Other systems with these same features are running up to $3,500.

This machine was designed and built by an engineer / tool & die maker with 40+ years experience in automation, robotics and precision fixture design. AMK, LLC only designs, builds, and sells top quality equipment and products. AMK, LLC has a history of engineering, design, and fabrication of specialty fixtures, automated work cells and production lines.

This system includes a VFD with a 1.5hp motor, a 12" Serrated Wheel, and all aluminum parts (excluding wheels) are blue powder coated. See video and pictures above.

Standard Features:

1. "No tool" operation. No tools needed to change from flat platen to Serrated Wheel.
2. Uses standard 2" x 72" grinding belts.

3. Oh, and did I mention that you get the motor as well? Yep, a 1.5hp motor with a Variable Speed (VFD), 110vac motor is included.
4. All of the idler wheels, drive and tracking wheels are made of aircraft grade aluminum with precision bearings, they are 2 3/8" long.
5. Grinder is made from steel and heavy duty aircraft grade aluminum, so it will last for years.
6. All steel details are black oxided for rust protection.
7. Pre-wired ON/OFF switch and motor. Operates on a standard 15-20 amp circuit.
8. Tilt adjustable work table. Will tilt approximately 30 degrees.
9. Tabletop mountable.
10. Gas strut tension arm. NO SPRINGS here. Springs are not reliable for constant pressure.
11. YES, YOU CAN do slack grinding! Remove the platen backer, and you can slack grind on three different areas of the belt.
12. Some minor assembly required. It will take about 5 minutes to setup the shock tower and mount the worktable. (This is to help reduce the shipping cost.)

Includes everything shown, 1.5hp motor with a Variable Speed (VFD), a flat platen, 12" Serrated Wheel for hollow grinding, aluminum drive wheels.

I have had my AMK-77 2X72 Belt Grinder, 1.5hp, Variable Speed VFD, 12" wheel for about 18 months now. I will be making my 100th knife on it this weekend. I love the thing. it has more than enough power, it is very smooth and switching from wheel to flat platen is fast and easy. I did have a issue with the alignment/tension wheel and Allen resolve the problem right away. If it was stolen I would buy another. 5 STARS it is worth every penny.

Long term review... so Ive had this grinder for over 4 years now and have made well over a 100 knives with it and it stills performs without fail. There are LOTS of grinders on the market and if you've done your research its easy to get discouraged with some of the high price tags. In my opinion you will not find another grinder of this quality/capability on the market at this price point, its an awesome grinder and I will be getting the horizontal very soon. I am NOT a paid endorser, just a satisfied customer.

I've had this machine for a few months now, it's the best I have used. I've had a square wheel machine and a burr king, this blows them out of the water. Super smooth operation, I can achieve outrageous precision grinds even on the finest edged kitchen knives, without worrying about overheating the edge.
